Founder: Carlee Avers Smith has been interested in aiding her community for as long as she can remember. The prospect of providing a voice to those in need was what led Carlee to acting in the first place. After participating in numerous events, Carlee determined that with her organizational skills and network, she could take her initiatives one step further. After uniting several like minded friends, Carlee formed SoCal HeARTs. It is her goal that the organization grow, inspiring others to tune into their own charitable instincts, so together we can help alleviate the strain that so many families in America face every year.

Founder: Valorie Darling has always had a passion for service. At eleven years of age she co-founded the non-profit organization, Helping Hearts, after reading a horrifying article about the conditions in which the Romanian orphans lived. Since that day she knew she wanted to make a difference in the world. With the motto, “It’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness,” Helping Hearts sold over $8,000 worth of homemade beeswax candles in their first year benefiting the Romanian orphans and the NW Medical Teams. The next year the proceeds went to S.M.I.L.E., a teenage suicide prevention program, and their third and final year to Hurricane Mitch relief. Later cheering at the University of Oregon, Valorie acted as a community leader volunteering for several different organizations. After graduating she came out to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams with the hopes of having a bigger voice and impact in her community.

Founder: Knowing there’s more to life than ourselves is the greatest discovery a person can make. Venetia Kgabo discovered this early on in life and has had the desire to make a difference ever since. At the age of 13, she made her first of 2 trips to Haiti with her church youth group to do just that; make a difference. While there, they helped build a church, visited women and children at a local hospital and conducted a Vacation Bible School for the local kids. This trip opened her eyes and shed light on the fact that so many people all over the world are in need. She also realized that even at age 13, everyone is able to do something to help. When SoCal HeARTs was formed Venetia knew that this was a perfect way to give back to her community. Being a part of this organization has brought together her love for social media and her passion to serve all while making a difference in families lives.
